This year the four stooges , Duckpond, Christo Larry Kronick and Heavy G return to take you to a low tech oddysey through cartons, crenellations and corrugations of Cardboard . There is nothing more cheap, flimsy or fake than a cardboard cutout, which makes it a perfect match for this years LILYWORLD theme!!! This simple and diverse material is warm, friendly, cheap (like us), disposable (like us) and recycled (like our jokes). So come and join the madness with the LILYWORLD cardboard crusaders….. INTERNATIONAL GUESTS Traveling to join us from all corners of the Globe, we are blessed and proud to present these artists to the Lilyworld crowds !! All the way from Jamaican Dancehalls to the Lilyworld stage, Lady Sawis the wickedest female songstress and and her audacious delivery, cocksure style and no nonsense attitude, has garnered Mama Saw tremendous success in a fickle, male-dominated industry. Lady Saw, with Triple Platinum status and Grammy under her frock for her collaboration with No Doubt on “Underneath it All,” born Marion Hall, remains true to her raunchy sexual ego, and is guaranted to give her fans and friends a thrill on the Lilyworld stage !! (All Cities) EDWARD “TAN TAN” THORTON WITH COOL WISE MEN This year Lilyworld showcases the mindblowing energy and masterful sounds of Japanese ska act the Cool Wise Men, featuring the legendary Eddie "Tan Tan" Thornton. Their killer (and danceable!) original style mixes ska, calypso, dub, and roots rock reggae true to the best of Jamaican music styles. A couple of Lilyworld goons just happened upon this brilliant act at Fuji Rock in Japan last summer and just fell in love!! ( NZ and East Coast only) Legendary trumpeter best known and loved around the world as "Tan Tan" has played with countless bands including such legends as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, Rod Stewart, and many others. Born in Jamaica, Tan Tan attended the Alpha School which is know for its graduates The Skatalites and Rico Rodriguez. The number of albums he has played on run into the hundreds and he most recently recorded with Lily Allen. ( NZ and East Coast only) Avante-trip hop, squeaky toys, jazz styleys and pyromania meet in the mind blowing performances of multi-instrumentalist Tokyo virtuoso Tucker . Tucker has released 2 albums and won "The Best of SONAR" award at SONAR new music festival in 2006 in Barcelona. You haven’t lived until you see this guy play instruments and kiddies toys while doing headstands and building his own one man wall of sound. Watch in awe as Tucker sets the Lilyworld stage on fire! ( NZ and East Coast only) This year sees the long awaited “ Mayall vs. Mayall” sets featuring brothers Gaz and Jason Mayall with special guest Baby Soul. Gaz and Jason are the sons of Blues legend John Mayall, Gaz were raised on a musical diet of R&B and were dragged around every beat, pop & rock festival and venues throughout the sixties as a child. Together they will astound Lilyworld audiences with their eclectic selections of blues, roots, ska and R’nB ..Gaz DJ's and hosts the western universes’ longest running one-nighter “Gaz's Rockin Blues” His brother Jason, AKA the 'Cumbria Kid', is presenter of Fuji Rock's Palace of Wonder, and will bring to the Lilyworld the rarest selection of groovin' bootyshakin' tunes from Japanese Jazz to Ethiopean Funk. A showcase of the very best of Australian and international cabaret, comedy, fringe and surreal exotic lounge dj's and bands. It is a cocktail of contradictions, Neo burlesque and traditional circus, cutesy cabaret with a dollop of provocative sexiness, charming whilst utterly ridiculous. A shady haven away from the mayhem where cocktails, music, misfits and vaudeville collide. It has been a meteoric rise to mediocrity for these nerds squarely at the forefront of a worldwide movement that they themselves pioneered, known simply as “BOXWARS”. Growing up on a diet of Harry Potter and Tomb Raider they now find themselves squarely at the forefront of a worldwide movement that they themselves pioneered, known simply as “BOXWARS”. 1) Strap yourself up with cardboard. LILYWORLD SHOWSTOPPERS And no Lilyworld show would be complete without the inane and quietly demented show segments rolling through the day, such as the" Crock Eisteddfod" where we mercilessly cut old classics into very fine shreds. And our incredibly offensive and insensitive old twats, DJ Heavy G and Christo team up to become “The Cynical Brothers” taking you on a journey that you did’nt really plan on !! By popular demand “Larry’s mixed nuts” where we bring on the old school Lilypad mixed gags. Will it be mud wrestling, will it be skulling? Will it be nude whatevers? Who knows, we don’t but as usual we’ll make it up as we go!! And we’ll kick the day off with live bunny painting demonstrations by Duckpond where we do live commentaries to find out the very latest in “Architecture in Warrendyte" THE ICECREAM VAN With greatful assistance from several towing and mobile mechanic companies, the Ice Cream Van will be placing lives and eardrums at risk with another foray into mobile irritation and entertainment technologies (East Coast only) SOLAR POWERED CARDBOARD VILLAGE Lilyworld is taking steps into the world of renewable energy with a solar sculpture by artist Cameron Robbins generously sponsored by KYOCERA SOLAR. The solar sculpture will form the centre piece of a new addition to Lilyworld, an uplifting and shady eco-sensitive chillout zone, the Cardboard Eco Village in which punters can goon in, goof off, and mong out. Take a moment to peruse the info booths with crucial info on everything from homelessness to climate change. You can even do your bit to save the planet! The whole thing is solar powered and made of cardboard!!! Featured village partners… KYOCERA SOLAR: Charge up your mobile phone compliments of solar power THE BIG ISSUE: Some of these guys actually do have to live in a cardboard box!!! Cardboard donations and recycling by VISY, Art direction Sulphur Creative. PIZZA BOX ART COMPETTION In an effort to raise the creative bar… LILYWORLD is happy to announce a major art initiative. In keeping with its theme of all things “CARDBOARD” the team at chez “LILYWORLD” invites all aspiring art freaks, outsiders, design gurus and those simply seeking to scab free tickets to participate. The brief is a simple one - simply create an artwork within the confines of a “PIZZA BOX” the work must then be able to be closed and posted. Simple enough? There are no rules regarding style, media, size, colour etc only that it must use a PIZZA BOX and must be able to close properly and be posted or delivered. So get your brushes, hoobytex, spray cans then slip down to your local pizza gaff and beg, borrow or steal a pizza box (NOT USED!!!) and get those creative juices flowing. The best works will then be on display at the relevant Big Day Out Shows within the LILYWORLD precinct. Oh… one more thing there is a prize for each city of 2 tickets worth in excess of $5000 if you believe e-bay!!! (You will be contacted early January if you are the winner). The major winner will not only receive the tickets but also a show bag with merchandising, cds and other cool shit. Details Artworks must be received by close of business 4th of January 2008. You must put your name, Address, Phone number and e-mail address on the back. Winners for each state will be contacted by the 18th of January.
